I’m Karl (Karl-Heinz) — the creator of READINESS. I’m also a registered mental health professional with over 20 years of experience, and someone who’s navigated my own share of mood challenges, anxiety, physical tension, and unhelpful patterns. I know how these things get triggered, how they persist, and how they feed stress.
That combination of professional training and lived experience means I can help you see your options clearly — not from a position of “knowing better,” but from genuine understanding. I don’t pretend to be a guru or have all the answers. I make mistakes, I get back on the horse, and I practice letting go — just like you. The gains are real, but they’re not always easy. I’m alongside you, not above you.
My Approach
Many approaches feel prescriptive — as if the practitioner knows what’s best. That’s not how I work. Your values and choices are yours. My job is to empower, not direct.
READINESS is for self-directed people who want clarity, calm, and less mental noise. It’s a practical framework for understanding yourself better and creating sustainable change — on your terms.
READINESS isn’t a gimmick. It’s built on well-documented, evidence-informed approaches: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Stoic philosophy, Socratic questioning, and contemplative practices from various traditions. All of this is woven into one cohesive model that helps you recognize and work with your experiences in a practical, empowering way.
And it adapts to you. I explain it, show it to you — and then you make it your own. It’s your tool, that’s all. The tool reveals the unseen, and then you decide what you’ll keep — and what you’ll change.
Getting You Back on Your Own Side
When we act on subconscious standards, beliefs, and goals, we start to get hard on ourselves. Our spirit may be open and inquisitive, but the stored belief says that’s not allowed. The result? Our self-esteem tanks. We start juggling ‘who we should be’ with ‘who we are’ — it’s exhausting, and it feels unsafe and vulnerable.
The READINESS Framework 1:1 Sessions feel different because they don’t have stored goals and expectations. They simply ask: ‘What serves peace?’ and give permission for a shift. It’s nuanced, and it sounds simple, but it can be hard and confusing in the thick of it. In 1:1 sessions, I make it easier by tying it back to the framework, and by making it okay to ask: ‘But what about my peace?’
Change isn’t linear. Longstanding patterns — often learned early — are hard to shift. There will be ups and downs. My role is to support you through the frustration, the setbacks, and the low moments, and help you get back on track with clarity and self-compassion.
If I notice a pattern that doesn’t seem to serve your peace, I’ll reflect that back and invite you to observe: “Is this beneficial to less mental noise?” But only you can answer that. My deeper aim is to foster that awareness in you, so you start asking that question for yourself.
What’s beneficial shifts as life does. It’s a balancing act between what serves you, what you can’t change, your responsibilities, and your limitations. Sometimes changing something isn’t viable right now — and that’s okay. I’ll help you notice, ask useful questions, and walk alongside you at a sustainable pace. I emphasise small, gradual shifts that build you up, not dismantle what works. READINESS is about kindness, rapport, and empowering you to find your own way. We may meet, talk, and then a year later talk again, when the next stage beckons.
Build a life that works for you — no matter your past or your future.
I’ve worked with people from many backgrounds — different cultural, spiritual, and religious perspectives, and different life experiences. I respect your identity, your values, and your view of what contentment looks like. This isn’t about diagnosing or fixing. It’s about being open to what works for you.
No Gatekeeping
READINESS is structured and transparent, so you always know where you stand and where you’re headed. You’re never left dependent on me. From the start, the focus is on teaching you to use the tools independently, so you can problem-solve on your own. My goal isn’t to keep you in sessions — it’s to give you a toolkit that lasts a lifetime. You’re welcome to return if needed, but the aim is to equip you, not hook you.
A Simple Way to Start
If you’re curious, the best way to find out if this is for you is to read the book sample. If it clicks, you’ll know. If it doesn’t, no hard feelings — there are many paths to peace, and I respect yours.
When you’re ready, I’m here — whether for a single session or ongoing support. No pressure, no long-term commitment. Just a conversation to see if this approach speaks to where you are right now.
