TERMS AND CONDITIONS for The READINESS Method Service/Sessions

Last updated: 27/07/2026

  1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the READINESS Method and any related 1:1 sessions (collectively, the “Service”).

1.2 By purchasing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1.3 The Service is provided by [Karl-Heinz Schradt], referred to in these Terms as “I”, “me”, or “the Facilitator”.

  1. WHAT THE READINESS METHOD IS

2.1 The READINESS Method is a structured self-inquiry framework that helps participants:
(a) become aware of automatic physical and mental reactions that increase stress and energy utilisation;
(b) discern which reactions do not serve their personal goals;
(c) learn tools for self-regulation, mindfulness, and metacognition;
(d) build motivation and insight for change; and
(e) develop cognitive discernment and determination to create change.

2.2 The method includes:
(a) self-regulation – awareness of breathing, stress reduction, and tension release;
(b) self-awareness – building recognition of reactions in the body, senses, and mind;
(c) skills in noting whether mental processes produce contentment or discontent, from the participant’s perspective; and
(d) encouragement to see that mental reactions are manageable and involve an element of choice.

2.3 The READINESS Method promotes contentment as a guiding goal. This is defined individually by each participant, but the framework favours stress reduction, responding rather than reacting, slower or more flexible living, and increased value on peacefulness and reduced reactivity.

2.4 The Method may not be suitable for individuals primarily interested in increased productivity, status-building, social advancement, goal-achievement, or material gain.

  1. SUITABILITY AND IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS

3.1 READINESS is designed for challenges such as worry about the future, regret or guilt about the past, overthinking, stress, tension, automatic desires to control or defend, cycles of anxiety, negative self-talk, uncertainty about priorities, and burnout or excessive self-pressure.

3.2 READINESS IS NOT THERAPY OR CRISIS CARE.

3.3 I am a Registered Mental Health Nurse in Australia. The READINESS Service is provided as an educational and coaching service. It is not nursing treatment, psychotherapy, counselling, diagnosis, medical advice, or clinical mental health care. Although my professional knowledge informs the educational content provided, the Service is not intended to establish a therapeutic or clinical treatment relationship.

3.4 If your situation involves crisis or emergency, major mental illness, substance use disorders, trauma requiring specialist treatment, or a need for case management, you will be advised to seek more comprehensive professional support. It is your responsibility to act on that advice.

3.5 Client Responsibilities
By participating in the READINESS Service, you acknowledge and agree that:
(a) you remain responsible for your own decisions, actions, and wellbeing;
(b) any decisions you make following coaching sessions are entirely your own;
(c) you are responsible for seeking appropriate medical, psychological, psychiatric, or other professional care whenever necessary;
(d) if your physical or mental health deteriorates, you agree to seek appropriate professional assistance without delay;
(e) if you are currently receiving treatment from a doctor, psychiatrist, psychologist, counsellor, or other health professional, you should continue that treatment unless advised otherwise by your treating practitioner.

3.6 Scope of the Service
The READINESS Service is intended to provide education, structured self-reflection, coaching, and the development of practical wellbeing skills. It does not replace assessment, diagnosis, treatment, psychotherapy, counselling, crisis intervention, or medical care. Participation in the Service should not delay or replace seeking appropriate healthcare where required.

  1. HOW THE SERVICE WORKS

4.1 The READINESS Method is a self-guided process in which participants read The READINESS Method book, apply the framework stage by stage and skill by skill, and keep a journal or schedule of practices to develop mindfulness and metacognition.

4.2 Most skills can be learned through regular reading and application, including calming, self-regulation, and mindfulness of body and mind.

  1. 1:1 SESSIONS – PURPOSE AND BOOKING

5.1 Purpose of 1:1 Sessions

Participants may benefit from 1:1 sessions to address confusion about the framework or skill order, enhance skill development and avoid getting stuck, understand more abstract concepts such as contentment, identify conditioned core beliefs, and receive guidance on applying techniques to real-life situations such as conflict, triggers, or problem areas.

5.2 Session Options

I offer the following session types:
(a) Book plus 15-minute session – a quick orientation for beginners or brief questions;
(b) 30-minute session – a deeper discussion on process, uncertainty, and application; and
(c) 45-minute session – in-depth troubleshooting for complex or advanced scenarios.

5.3 Weekly Group Sessions

I offer four fixed weekly sessions at varied times to accommodate time zones including Asia, Europe and the UK, the Americas, and Australia and New Zealand. These sessions are 30 to 45 minutes long. Simply purchase on the website and message me to confirm which session you will attend.

5.4 Personal Sessions

Personal sessions are available as 0-20, 20-40, or 40-60 minutes. Purchase your session on the website and message me to arrange a date and time. Sessions are subject to my availability.

5.5 Preparation

Before your session, it is helpful to read the book’s introduction and overview, watch the introductory YouTube course, and note any questions or challenges you would like to address.

5.6 Suitability
I reserve the right to decline, postpone, suspend, or discontinue coaching where I reasonably believe the Service is not suitable for your circumstances or where another form of professional support would better meet your needs.

  1. PAYMENTS, CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

6.1 All payments are processed through the website at the time of booking.

6.2 You may cancel or request a refund up to 12 hours prior to a scheduled session.

6.3 Refunds will not be issued after a session has taken place.

6.4 If you miss a session without cancelling within the 12-hour window, you forfeit that session and are not entitled to a refund or reschedule.

6.5 I reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a session due to unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, you will be offered a full refund or an alternative time.

  1. EXPECTATIONS AND NO GUARANTEES

7.1 READINESS addresses mental and nervous system habits that have been learned and reinforced over long periods. Therefore, any meaningful change realistically requires effort, learning and study, regular application, understanding and participation, and adequate time, attention, and resources.

7.2 Relearning can be slow and may take longer than the time the original reactions took to establish. Improvement depends on many factors, including health status, learning ability, consistent application, and personal circumstances.

7.3 NO GUARANTEE OF RESULTS IS MADE. Results vary significantly between individuals.

7.4 Factors that may affect outcomes include personality, personal philosophy and beliefs, cultural background, and readiness for change.

7.5 If the method does not yield desired results, is a poor fit, or feels unpleasant or disagreeable, it is your responsibility to discontinue use.

7.6 The READINESS Method is an educational framework designed to assist participants in developing self-awareness, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and cognitive insight. It should not be interpreted as guaranteeing prevention, treatment, or resolution of any medical or psychological condition.

  1. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

8.1 The READINESS Method, including but not limited to the book The READINESS Method, the READINESS Workbook, the sequence and framework of skills, all written materials and session content, and the name “READINESS” and associated branding, is the exclusive intellectual property of Karl-Heinz Schradt / Readiness Press / ‘The READINESS Method’ Book (including preceding versions published by Practical Buddhist Coaching or Lokuttara) and contents.

8.2 You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the materials for your own personal development and learning.

8.3 You may not reproduce, copy, or distribute any part of the READINESS materials without prior written consent. You may not teach, coach, or commercialise the READINESS Method or any derivative of it. You may not share session recordings, notes, or materials with third parties. You may not use the framework to train others or deliver services to clients.

8.4 All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

8.5 Unauthorised use of the intellectual property may result in termination of access and legal action.

9.1.4 I will inform you if your situation appears to require formal mental health or physical health input. In such cases, I may suggest options such as psychiatry, psychology, counselling services, or a general medical review.

9.2 Limitations

9.2.1 READINESS provides education and coaching relating to stress management, mindfulness, self-regulation, emotional awareness, metacognition, and psychological wellbeing.

9.2.2 The Service is not intended to diagnose, prevent, treat, cure, or manage any mental illness or medical condition.

9.2.3 Any discussion of psychological concepts is provided solely for educational purposes.

9.3 Professional Responsibilities

9.3.1 I maintain current registration as a Mental Health Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

10.2 Where reasonably practicable, and where sufficient identifying information is available, I may contact emergency services or another appropriate person if I reasonably believe there is an immediate and serious risk to your life or the safety of another person, where permitted by applicable law.

10.3 This is a safeguarding measure and is not a substitute for ongoing crisis support.

  1. RECORD KEEPING AND PRIVACY

11.1 Why I Keep Records

I retain basic records for the following purposes: to recall your context for future sessions and improve service quality; as evidence of practice for AHPRA requirements; and in the case of a complaint, investigation, or request by you for information. A fee may apply for formal referrals.

11.2 What Information Is Retained

I retain your client number, contact details, and name (or pseudonym if you choose); date and duration of sessions; a journal entry for each session including your current focus and circumstances, session focus, your current understanding and skill level, suggestions and education provided, and a written plan; and records of payments for tax and practice-evidence purposes.

11.3 Confidentiality

11.3.1 Your information is kept confidential and is not shared with third parties except as required by law, in the case of risk to life as set out in Section 10, or where you provide explicit written consent.

11.3.2 You may request access to your records at any time. A reasonable fee may apply for formal referrals or extensive records requests.

Neither party may record audio or video of coaching sessions without the prior written consent of the other party.

12.3 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Australia / your State], and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction.

12.4 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

12.6 International Clients
If you access the READINESS Service from outside Australia, you are responsible for ensuring that participation complies with the laws applicable in your own jurisdiction. I make no representation that the Service is lawful or regulated in every country.

12.7 Jurisdiction and Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Western Australia (WA), Australia. Each party irrevocably and unconditionally submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia (WA), Australia, and any courts that have jurisdiction to hear appeals from those courts, for the purpose of any proceedings arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Service, or your use of the Service. This clause is intended to be binding and enforceable in any jurisdiction, and each party waives any objection to the venue of such courts on the grounds of inconvenient forum or otherwise.

12.8 Complaints
If you have concerns regarding the Service, you agree to notify me first and provide a reasonable opportunity to resolve those concerns before commencing legal proceedings, except where prohibited by law.
